今日は弊社の提携クリニックの一つであるFertility Institute of Hawaiiの名医、
ジョン先生をご紹介したいと思います。

<和訳>
わたしは、休日に家族で過ごす事が好きです。
家族とビーチへ行ったり、ウォータースポーツをしたり、ゴルフを楽しみます。
私はゴルフをかつてやっていた事がありましたが、あまり上手ではありません。
最近は子ども達も大きくなったので、6時間ゴルフ場で1人みじめな気分になるよりは、子ども達の活動を見る方が楽しいです。
私が兵役を終えた後、数年ハワイを離れた時期があります。ハワイを離れて1,2年経った頃
ハワイをとても恋しくなったと同時にハワイで不妊治療院が必要とされているという事に気づきました。
その後ハワイへ戻り2010年にFertility Institute of Hawaiiを設立しました。
ハワイへ来てからは、生殖内分泌学と不妊治療を一緒に行う事を決めました。
その頃は体外受精の技術が発展して20年ほどだったので、それは非常に新しい分野でした。
この分野の研究が昔も今も私を惹きつけるのは、患者さんの力になる事への情熱、
これに変わりはありませんが、今はもう少し個人的な気持ちも含まれています。
というのも、患者さんが経験されている苦労を私も経験しているからです。
ですから、患者さんの家族が欲しいという願いや、不安な気持ちが理解できます。
妻と私は高齢で不妊治療を始め受精に何度か失敗しました。
最終的に２、3回の体外受精の後に成功し、家族を築く事ができました。
私は朝起きて仕事に行くのがとても嬉しいと思うほど仕事に情熱を持っています。
家族と一緒に過ごす時によく思うのですが、私たちが行なっているのは患者さんの力になる事です。
たくさんのいい事をしていると思うと、それは更に私のモチベーションとなり、もっと頑張らねばと思うのです。
私が自分の患者さんにしているアドバイスは、”あきらめないで”という事。
そしてできる限りのことをやってください。
受けている治療に納得できているかご自身で考えてみてください。
そこまで積極的にしたくない場合は無理をしないでください。
そうすれば、最終的にご自身で可能な限りの治療を受けたとにご納得いただけるはずです。
In my free time I like spending time with my family ,spending time with my kids.
we enjoy going to the beach and doing water sports.
I used to play golf but, and i was not good at it, my kids are getting older now
so I’d rather watch them do whatever activity they’re doing than go out on the golf course for 6 hours and be miserable.
After finishing my military ,moved away from Hawaii for a few years after couple of years decided I really missed Hawaii and I also realized there was a need in Hawaii for a state of the art fertility center so I moved back to
Hawaii and built the “Fertility Insitite of Hawaii and the laboratory here in 2010.
So during my residency I decided to do Reproductive Endocrinology and infertility at the time it was a very novel field IVF had only been around for much 20 years or ,so it was very academic there was a lot of research involved and at the time I was what really drew me to the field subsequently my passion for the field is little different now it’s also helping the patients but for a more of personal reason and kind of selfish reason as well.
personally I’ve gone through a lot of the same things that my patients have gone through so I understand their desires to want to have a family I understand their fears I understand my wife and I you know tried to have children late in life and so we had to undergo clomid and entry during insemination and some failures with that and then ultimately you know a couple of IVF cycles before we were successful and building our family.
I’m very lucky and that my passion is coming to work I have one of those jobs where I get up in the morning and I am excited to come to work because I have a family secondary to what I do I realize there’s a lots of good that we can do for our patients and so when I am with my family it really gives me motivation to work even harder .
my advise that I would offer my patients and that I do offer my patients is don’t give up do everything you can but make sure that you’re comfortable with the treatment that you’re undergoing don’t be too aggressive with treatment if you don’t want to be too aggressive in the end you just have to make sure that you’re comfortable that you’ve done everything possible.
